Humidity control designed around your home and HVAC system.

A whole-home humidifier adds controlled moisture to heated air and distributes it through the ductwork. During a dry Ontario winter, that can reduce static electricity and the discomfort associated with overly dry indoor air while avoiding portable units in several rooms.

The right model depends on the total conditioned area, including the basement, as well as air leakage, duct layout, available plenum space and access to water and drainage. Infinite Home Comfort currently quotes Aprilaire 500M and 600M bypass models and a Lennox Healthy Climate whole-home option, subject to compatibility and availability.

A humidifier is not an air purifier, dehumidifier or ventilation system. It cannot remove dust, odours, gases or biological contaminants, and it cannot promise a medical outcome. Too much humidity can cause window condensation and support unwanted moisture, so the target setting should change with outdoor conditions.

Seasonal care includes checking the water panel or pad, cleaning mineral buildup, confirming the water supply and drain are clear, and verifying the humidistat. Service frequency depends on the model, water conditions and use; replaceable parts should follow the equipment instructions.

This option suits homes that feel consistently dry during heating season, especially when the occupants want one central control instead of maintaining portable humidifiers. A site assessment confirms whether the ductwork and mechanical room can support the installation.

What does a whole-home humidifier do?

It adds controlled moisture to air moving through a compatible central HVAC system, then uses the ductwork to distribute that moisture through the home during dry conditions.

How do you select the right humidifier?

We consider total conditioned area, including the basement, along with construction, air leakage, duct and plenum space, water and drain access, and the control arrangement. Final selection is confirmed at the home.

Can a humidifier help with winter window condensation?

No. Condensation usually means the indoor humidity is too high for the outdoor temperature or that a surface is unusually cold. The humidifier setting should be reduced and the underlying condition assessed.

Does a humidifier clean or purify the air?

No. A humidifier manages moisture; it does not capture particles or treat biological growth. Filtration, UV treatment, ventilation and source control address different indoor-air concerns.

What maintenance does a whole-home humidifier need?

The water panel or pad and internal surfaces need periodic inspection and service, and the water supply, drain and humidistat should be checked. The exact interval depends on the model, water conditions and use.
