A whole-home humidifier adds controlled moisture to heated air and distributes it through the ductwork. During a dry Ontario winter, that can reduce static electricity and the discomfort associated with overly dry indoor air while avoiding portable units in several rooms.

A humidifier is not an air purifier, dehumidifier or ventilation system. It cannot remove dust, odours, gases or biological contaminants, and it cannot promise a medical outcome. Too much humidity can cause window condensation and support unwanted moisture, so the target setting should change with outdoor conditions.

Seasonal care includes checking the water panel or pad, cleaning mineral buildup, confirming the water supply and drain are clear, and verifying the humidistat. Service frequency depends on the model, water conditions and use; replaceable parts should follow the equipment instructions.
